Kamupak piloted a digital deposit system for reusable packaging at Compass Group’s TestEat restaurant located at Munkkivuori, Helsinki. The pilot started on 24th of February and lasted until 20th of March.
During the pilot the reusable service was introduced and tested to validate the desirability and easiness of the return process for the customers. The pilot was successful in showing that desirable level of demand exists for reusable solutions as 1/5 of take away packaging could be replaced with reusable solution.
The pilot brought out valuable information on further development needs related to return process. The most important finding of the pilot was the need to develop a return process that is not sensitive to any location specific features and is robust in any restaurant environment.
After the pilot Kamupak went to develop a hardware-free return process where no physical hardware is necessary, in order to have error free returns at place. After the pilot Kamupak has been involved with VTT led 4everPack co-innovation/co-creation scheme.
